After the electrician's done

Drywall Patch After Electrical Work

Running new wire, moving an outlet box, or adding a circuit usually means opening the wall first. Once the electrician's work is done, we patch the cutout and match the texture — standard orange peel, knockdown or smooth is included. Tell us the year your home was built along with 2-3 photos, and we'll text back a firm price; most jobs like this wrap up in a single visit.

Why electricians leave a cutout

Fishing a new wire through a wall, moving an outlet box, adding a switch, or running a new circuit all mean opening the drywall first. Most electricians stop once the wiring is done and the cover plate is back on — the cutout itself is left for someone else to close. That's the gap we fill: cutting the opening back to sound drywall, patching it, and matching the texture around it.

If the cutout is specifically around an outlet, switch, or panel that got cut too big or in the wrong spot, see outlet and panel cutout repair instead.

Patch and texture match

Cutouts from electrical work are usually a small or medium repair, and texture matching — orange peel, knockdown, or smooth — is included at the standard tier. Hand textures and premium finishes are priced on texture matching. More than one cutout in the same room, same visit? The second patch is priced as an add-on, not a full second repair.

When the texture has dried, you can paint the patch yourself. A full wall repaint, corner to corner, is available as a separate visit once the texture has dried — see drywall repair and painting.

Getting a firm price

We quote every job the same way: 2-3 photos of the cutout, plus the year your home was built, sent through the quote page. There's no charge for a quote built from photos. On the rare job where photos aren't enough, an in-person look costs $150, credited toward the repair once you book it.

That year-built question does real work, too — homes built before 1980 are likely to contain asbestos, and we don't work on homes built with asbestos materials.

Repair day

A lockbox code or an unlocked door is all we need — you don't have to be there in person, and you'll get a text once we're headed over. Before any cutting starts, tape and plastic go down over the floor and the walls nearby, and everything's cleaned up again once the patch and texture match are finished.

Every size and add-on is on the price list.

What to expect on repair day

Mario, the owner, does the work, and your home is protected while it happens.

You don't need to be home

Leave a lockbox code or the door unlocked. You get a text when Mario is on the way, and Mario locks up when the job is done.

Your belongings protected

Before starting, we tape plastic over the floor, nearby walls and anything close to the repair. If a couch is in the way, we move it and cover it.

Cleaned up before we leave

Patching makes some dust. The plastic catches most of it, and we clean up the work area before we go.

Drywall repair after an electrician questions

My electrician cut a hole to run new wire. Can you patch it?

Yes. Fishing wire, moving a box, or adding a circuit all leave a cutout we can patch and texture match once the electrical work is finished.

Do you patch cutouts around an outlet or panel too?

Yes, though if the cutout is specifically an oversized or misplaced outlet or panel opening, see outlet and panel cutout repair for that exact case.

How many cutouts can you patch in one visit?

As many as are in the same room on the same visit; the first is priced as a standard repair and each additional patch is priced as an add-on.

Will you match the texture around the cutout?

Yes — standard texture matching (orange peel, knockdown, smooth) is included. Hand textures and premium finishes are priced separately; see texture matching.

Hole in your wall? Text a photo.

Text, call or send the form anytime, day or night. You'll get a price back from Mario, the owner, who also does the repair.
