Drywall Repair and Texture in Lakewood, CO
Apex Drywall Repair patches the everyday damage in Lakewood homes built 1980 or later: dents, holes, and the cutouts a plumber or electrician leaves behind, with the texture already on the wall matched before we leave. Lakewood's newer homes cluster in the southwest, around Solterra and Green Mountain, and in this city the year built matters more than in most, so it's the first thing we ask. Text us some photos of the wall along with the year your home was built, and we'll text back a firm price.

Lakewood homes: an older city with newer pockets like Solterra
Lakewood incorporated in 1969 - already home to an estimated 90,000 people in the unincorporated subdivisions that became the city, with the 1970 census counting 92,743 and growth continuing to 113,808 by 1980. A lot of that growth traces back to the Denver Ordnance Plant, a World War II small-arms factory that was converted into the Denver Federal Center once the war ended. That building boom shows up in the numbers today: only about 44% of Lakewood's roughly 73,500 homes were built in 1980 or later (U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2024 5-year estimates), which leaves more than half the city on the pre-1980 side of the line where we stop taking jobs because of asbestos risk.
The newer side of that split concentrates in the southwest, around Solterra, a planned neighborhood in ZIP 80228 with homes mostly dating from the 2010s, next to Green Mountain and Bear Creek Lake Park, the city's 2,624-acre reservoir park between Lakewood and Morrison. ZIP 80228 as a whole runs about 55% built 1980 or later, noticeably newer than the city average, and it sits just up the road from Dakota Ridge, the unincorporated community directly south of Lakewood. Closer to the center of town, Belmar replaced an aging 1960s shopping mall starting in 2004 and now serves as Lakewood's downtown, mixing housing in among its retail, plazas and open space.
Lakewood's own ZIP codes - 80214, 80215, 80226, 80227, 80228, 80232 and 80235 - often carry "Denver" as the official mailing city even on an address well inside Lakewood; 80215 also lists Wheat Ridge as an alias. The W Line light rail has run along 13th Avenue through the middle of the city since 2013, with a separate stop at the Denver Federal Center, the federal office campus at 6th Avenue and Kipling Street that grew out of the old ordnance plant, not far from the office buildings along Union Boulevard. We cover the rest of this corner of the metro too - Golden to the northwest, Arvada further north, and Littleton to the south - so whatever part of Lakewood you're in, send a photo of the wall along with the year your home was built, and we'll follow with a firm price by text.

Lakewood drywall repair questions
Does Apex work throughout Lakewood?
Yes, but the year a home or building went up decides it more than the neighborhood does. Lakewood's newer pockets - Solterra, parts near Green Mountain, and the area around Belmar - clear that line more often than the rest of the city, where more than half the housing predates 1980.
Why does the year my Lakewood home or building was built matter?
Materials from before 1980 often carried asbestos, and we decline that work regardless of how the wall looks. Only about 44% of Lakewood's housing was built in 1980 or later, so this question comes before anything else in a quote.
Do you work in Solterra?
Yes. Solterra sits in ZIP 80228 in southwest Lakewood, near Green Mountain and Bear Creek Lake Park, and most of its homes are well inside our 1980-or-later range.
What ZIP codes do you cover in Lakewood, and why does my mail say Denver?
80214, 80215, 80226, 80227, 80228, 80232 and 80235. Several of these list "Denver" as the official mailing city for postal reasons, even for addresses that sit inside Lakewood - tell us your address along with your photos and we'll confirm you're covered.
Do you work on buildings along Union Boulevard or near the Federal Center?
Yes, for drywall and texture work in that corridor the same way as anywhere else - the construction date decides it, not the address. See business customers for how property managers, builders and tenants get quoted, and send the year built along with your photos.
Do I need to be home for the repair?
Only if you want to be. You're free to stay, or to run your errands while the repair gets done. If you'd rather be out, leave a lockbox code or the door unlocked. You get a text when we're on the way, and when the repair is done, we clean up and, if you're out, lock up.
Why do you ask what year my home was built?
Homes built before 1980 are likely to contain asbestos in the wall texture or joint compound. We don't work on homes built with asbestos materials, so the year tells us whether we can take the job. Not sure of the year? Send the photos anyway and we'll check.
